The City of Saskatoon will have a number of adjusted civic services and hours of operation over the holidays, as follows:

CITY HALL

All Administrative Offices are closed on the following days:

• Monday, December 27 & Tuesday, December 28 (reopens Wednesday, December 29 at 8:00 a.m.)
• Monday, January 3 (reopens January 4 at 8:00 a.m.)

PAY PARKING

• Parking payment is not required on Christmas Day, December 25 and New Year’s Day, January 1.
• Motorists are reminded that all other parking requirements remain in effect, including parking time limits.

MUNICIPAL IMPOUND LOT 

• Vehicles will not be released to the public December 25 & 26, or on January 1.

SASKATOON PUBLIC LIBRARY

• All locations will be closed on December 25 & 26, and January 1.
• Closed early at 5:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24 and New Year’s Eve, December 31.

LANDFILL

• Closed on December 25 and January 1. All other days are regular winter hours (7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m).

COMPOST DEPOTS

• Both locations closed for the season; re-opening April 2022

WASTE COLLECTIONS

• Waste Collections are not impacted this year as the holidays fall on weekends.
• Registration for the 2022 Subscription Green Cart season begins January 5, 2022. Full details on the Early Bird Rate and more at saskatoon.ca/greencart

TRANSIT SERVICES

Saskatoon Transit:

• Saskatoon Transit will operate with Holiday Service on December 25, 26 & January 1.
• Please check the routes and schedules on the website or the real-time mobile app, Transit for details.
• Route 1225 - Jingle Bell Express will provide free service all day on Boxing Day, December 26.

Access Transit:

• Will operate with Holiday Service on December 27, 28 and January 3. Holiday Service hours are 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
• Access Transit subscriptions do not apply on Statutory Holidays
• In partnership with SGI, Saskatoon Transit is offering free service on ALL routes after 7:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve!

Transit Customer Service Center:

• Will be closed for walk-in customers on December 25 & 26 and January 1.
• Customer Service phone lines will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (closed 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.)

INDOOR RINKS

• All rinks will be closed December 25, 26 & January 1.  Lions and Gordie Howe Kinsmen arenas will be closed from December 20 to January 1, 2022.
• The holiday public and parent & tot skating schedules are listed on Leisure Online and at saskatoon.ca/indoorrinks

LEISURE CENTRES

Initial repairs to the College Drive pedestrian walkway are now complete. Starting Tuesday morning before rush hour, the westbound lanes of College Drive will re-open to traffic. The walkway will also re-open to pedestrians.

The overpass was hit by a truck with a crane on December 7, which created damage and knocked it out of alignment.

Saskatoon Transit may be affected by these detours. Transit service alerts and real-time bus information is available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.

Groomed cross country ski trails maintained by the City of Saskatoon are expected to be ready between January 4 to 7, 2022, at the Upper and Lower Meewasin, Diefenbaker, Kinsmen, and Forest Parks. 

The light accumulation of snow along with new staff training requirements has led to a later than normal start to the season.

Following the completion of the main cross country ski trails, the City will begin grooming trails in 30 neighbourhood parks.  This new initiative supports Saskatoon’s WintercityYXE Strategy and is run in partnership with various Community Associations throughout the city.
