McOrmond Drive Reservoir and Pump Station
As the city continues to grow, so too does the need to ensure sufficient water supply to all neighbourhoods. Construction of the McOrmond Drive Reservoir and Pump Station is underway in Evergreen, just to the south of the McOrmond Drive and Baltzan Boulevard intersection. It is the fourth reservoir in Saskatoon that will collect water from the Water Treatment Plant and store it for distribution to northeast Saskatoon neighbourhoods like Evergreen, Aspen Ridge and Willowgrove.
The reservoir will be underground and will have a total capacity of 43 million litres, which is equivalent to approximately 17 Olympic sized swimming pools of water. As shown on the rendering below, the site will include one building (a pump station) on a landscaped site.
The project supports the City’s Strategic Goals of Economic Growth and Quality of Life through responsible designs and by ensuring the water system operation meets public expectations and complies with regulations. The project also supports the strategic goal of Asset and Financial Sustainability by planning and budgeting for the maintenance and upgrades to infrastructure.
The new reservoir will be in operation in 2024.
The project was approved for Federal and Provincial funding through the Building Canada Fund Infrastructure Program.
