The City uses research to understand our current services and to develop new waste reduction and diversion programs. Waste characterization studies let the City see what materials are ending up in our waste programs. Public surveys provide representative data on knowledge and use of our programs, barriers that reduce participation, and levels of support for new reduction and diversion programs.
