Oval Scheduled to Open December 15
Weather permitting, the Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval will open for the season on Sunday, December 15.
The Clarence Downey Speed Skating Oval is managed by the Gordie Howe Sports Complex on behalf of the City of Saskatoon. The Oval offers an exciting change of pace and scenery for skating enthusiasts. There are multiple lanes available for different speeds and plenty of room for every level of skater (and speed skates are not required to participate).
Facility Features
• 400 metre skating oval
• Available for long track use
• Free public skating
• The new K + S Multi-Sports Centre will be open during the Oval hours of operation to support public skating and Nordic skiing at the Gordie Howe Sports Complex. Amenities include washrooms, change rooms and showers, warm-up and gathering area, exterior bleacher seating during public skating, vending machines for snacks and beverages.

Fun Fact!
The Oval was named after the first coach of the Saskatoon Lions Speed Skating Club.
