Recycling Education at Partner’s Facilities
The City’s recycling service providers, Cosmopolitan Industries (Cosmo) and Loraas Recycle, provide recycling education at their facilities.
Loraas Education Room
Loraas Recycle offers free in-person and virtual classroom sessions at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) located at 1902 1st Avenue North in Saskatoon. Visit their state-of-the-art classroom for information on recycling, waste, and composting topics. To book a tour or find additional educational resources visit their website.
For student groups: In-person classroom tours for are geared towards grade 4+ students. Free bussing to and from the facility is provided by the City to all student groups for all Saskatoon School divisions. Classroom sessions are available from October-June, Tuesdays through Thursdays and are approximately 2 hours in length. Virtual tours are offered year-round and are suitable for all ages; covering the same topics as in-person sessions.
For adults and public groups: In-person classroom sessions are offered year-round for ages 9 and up. Virtual sessions are available for all ages and cover the same topics as in-person sessions.
Cosmopolitan Facility Tours and Education Room
Cosmo’s Recycling Education Centre free educational sessions and encourages visitors to view recycling in context of the community. Touching on the themes of waste management, saving natural resources, and providing opportunities for adults with intellectual disabilities, visitors are shown how the actions of residents in the community make a difference. Cosmo’s education team and facility can accommodate individuals with cognitive or physical disabilities. For more information on tours or for more information visit the website.
