About Saskatoon Fire Department

Fire service in Saskatoon evolved from reservoirs, buckets and horses in the 1880s into a unionized professional department in 1918 with its first piece of motorized apparatus.  

Today, the Saskatoon Fire Department has grown to over 360 staff members who are committed to protecting life, property, and the environment by serving residents of Saskatoon 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. 

Nine fire stations are strategically located throughout Saskatoon to provide quick response to residents and properties. The Saskatoon Fire Department utilizes dynamic deployment to maintain a high level of coverage in the event multiple incidents occur at the same time.  

The Saskatoon Fire Department is an all-hazards emergency response provider that responds to a wide variety of incidents including:
