Neighbourhood Planning
Vacant Lot & Adaptive Reuse Strategy
The Vacant Lot & Adaptive Reuse Strategy is comprised of four interrelated components: Incentives, Policy Options, Vacant Lot Inventory and a Brownfield Redevelopment Guidebook. The goal of the strategy is to encourage more infill development and intensify land use within established neighbourhoods (including the Downtown) in the City of Saskatoon.
Pleasant Hill Village
Pleasant Hill Village is located 1.6km due west of Downtown along 20th Street West, across from St. Paul’s Hospital in the heart of the Pleasant Hill neighbourhood. The project started in 2006 when federal, provincial, and municipal governments partnered with the Greater Saskatoon Catholic School Division to acquire and redevelop the 13-acre site. The project has close ties both to its surrounding neighbourhood and to community partners.
South Caswell Redevelopment
The South Caswell Redevelopment Project is a partnership between Saskatoon Land and the Planning and Development Department. The purpose of the project is to pursue the sale and redevelopment of the former Saskatoon Transit sites in accordance with community goals and objectives outlined in the South Caswell Concept Plan. The sites include the former Bus Barns, Administration Building and the north Maintenance Building.
Neighbourhood Safety
The Neighbourhood Safety Program works with community members and groups, civic administration, and other groups to conduct Risk Assessments, Safety Audits and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Reviews, based on the principles of CPTED.
Junction Improvement Strategy
The Junction is located at the cross section of three Saskatoon neighbourhoods, Pleasant Hill, Riversdale, and West Industrial, separated by the CP Rail line. The Junction Improvement Strategy outlines potential improvements to the area.
Local Area Planning
Local Area Planning gives residents an active role in determining the future of their neighbourhood. Residents, business owners, property owners, community groups, volunteers and other stakeholders form a partnership with the City of Saskatoon to develop goals and strategies aimed at improving the long-term success of their community. The completed plan, often called a LAP, contains specific recommendations for short, medium, and long term improvements.
Imagine Idylwyld
Imagine Idylwyld is a planning, transportation and design initiative to improve the function, safety and connectivity along Idylwyld Drive, between 20th Street and 25th Street East.
