Council Member Compensation
Remuneration
Policy C01-032, Council Member Remuneration, Travel and Training Expenses, provides compensation and benefits for the Mayor and Councillors, and provides a travel and training budget for Councillors to attend meetings, conferences, or training sessions directly related to their role as a Councillor for the City of Saskatoon, and to provide for the payment of expenses for attendance by members of Council at these events.

Annual remuneration shall be equal to that of a Saskatchewan Cabinet Minister’s salary and adjusted annually based on increments made to a Cabinet Minister’s salary. Effective April 1, 2026, the Mayor’s salary is $171,200.00 | Annual remuneration shall be 46% of the Mayor’s salary. Effective April 1, 2026, a City Councillor’s salary is $78,752.00 |

Health Benefits
The Mayor is covered for group life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term disability and long-term disability benefits through the City of Saskatoon’s group insurance.
Municipalities of Saskatchewan provides life insurance, extended health care and dental care for elected officials. Elected officials and their immediate family also have access to a variety of professional support resources and tools through the Shepell Employee Family Assistance Program.
Retirement Options
Elected officials have the option of participating in the iA Financial Group Registered Retirement Savings Plan.
Parking
Parking permits and stalls are provided to elected officials for use while on City business.
Administrative Support and Tools
Administrative support for Councillors is provided by the City Clerk’s Office. There are two full-time, dedicated assistants.
The City Councillors have a resource area in City Hall where they have an individual workspace. Councillors are supplied with computer equipment, mobile devices and general office supplies.
