Fun Facts
- Even though they produce poison from their skin, they are still eaten by grass snakes, birds and some mammals.
- Unlike most toads, the male fire-bellied toads do not have a resonator; they actually make calls through inhalation rather than exhalation.
- While not a true toad, fire-bellied toads have green and black skin that is covered in small tubercles (warty growths), giving them a toad-like appearance.
- Fire-bellied toads are semiaquatic and generally prefer slow-moving streams or ponds.
