- Bighorn sheep are equipped with split hooves with rough bottoms that aid in balance and natural grip. They can jump large distances and navigate narrow ledges.
About Us
The females in the herd were all born at the Saskatoon Zoo and paired with a male from the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Our Bighorn Sheep often rotate habitats. Moving animals to different habitats is just one way we provide enrichment for the animals in our care. Rotating animals to new spaces provides an opportunity for new smells, sights, sounds and even places to nap. This also allows time for regrowth in our habitats for animals to enjoy when they return.
