Waste Utility Rates

City Council provided direction in October 2021 to move forward with a fixed rate utility for organics in 2023 and a variable rate utility for garbage in 2024.

Monthly Waste Utility Fees:

What you pay for waste (Black Cart, Blue Cart and Green Cart) is shown on your utility bill as monthly fees:

*Note: The monthly green cart utility fees are calculated using a rate of $0.2395 per day, so the amount on your bill will vary depending on the number of days in the month.
†Note: A fixed utility rate of approximately $9.92 per month will be in place from January to June 2024 for all households with rollout black cart garbage services. The variable rates based on cart size will not start until cart swaps are completed city-wide.

The program fees are calculated separately for each cart program based on the costs associated with collection and processing.

Multi-Unit Recycling Rates

For multi-unit residential properties where the ratio of the number of dwellling units is five or more, the following recycling rates in the Multi-Residential Recycling Program apply.
