The kanātan nipīy (water is clean) Water Distribution & Collection Training Course is delivering its next session between January 29 and March 29, 2024. Applications will be processed on a first come, first served basis.
This course is just 9 weeks long and it provides the training needed to work in water and wastewater treatment—including at the City of Saskatoon where 13 of the 29 program graduates have found employment. The course content and delivery are coordinated by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the Radius Community Centre.

This program was developed in response to the TRC Call to Action to provide pathways to employment for Indigenous learners. As such, admission preference is given to Indigenous applicants. Funding supports may be available for persons qualifying through referral by program partners including the Saskatoon Tribal Council and Gabriel Dumont Institute.
City of Saskatoon and Downtown Saskatoon launch Poetry Downtown project

to connect the work of local poets to the community
The Poetry Downtown project features poems from ten local poets displayed on the Third Avenue poster directories between 19th Street and 23rd Street in Downtown Saskatoon. The theme of the project is Kindness – acts of.
Launched at the beginning of October, the project will be on display until May 31, 2024. A Call for Submissions was issued in March of 2023. Selected poets and their poem titles are: Bronwen McRae: Kindness, Danica Lorer: Treats, Danielle Richardson: In a Garden, Elaine Nieman: A Reflection on Kindness, Jaime Speed: Home, Josiah Nelson: Love Poem, Rita Bouvier: say it ki sî wâ ti sô win, Robert Benz: Anthem, Sonia McWilliams: Kindness, and Tyler Lee: Saviours.
The goals of the project are:
A walking tour of the Poetry Downtown project, with readings by the poets, will be taking place on Saturday, October 14 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The tour starts at the Senator Hotel (corner of Third Avenue and 21st Street). Participants are asked to register in advance: dtnyxe.ca/poetry-downtown
Poetry Downtown was inspired by a challenge from Parliamentary Poet Laureate of Canada Louise Halfe encouraging municipalities to bring poetry to public places.
The public is encouraged to walk along Third Avenue and reflect on the poetry. The Poetry Downtown project is a partnership with Downtown Saskatoon.

Spadina Crescent closed from 20th to 22nd streets on Sunday
September 29, 2023 - 8:00am
Spadina Crescent will be closed from 20th to 22nd streets on Sunday, October 1, starting at 7:00 a.m. for infrastructure upgrade work. Detours will be in place guiding motorists around the work zone. This project is expected to take four hours to complete, weather permitting and barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Saskatoon Transit may be affected by these detours. Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit on desktop.
