February 14 - Ongoing rut shaving on residential streets improving mobility
For immediate release: February 14, 2022 - 6:00 am
TC22-2854
Throughout the weekend 26 City and contractor graders worked day and night shaving down the top layer of ruts on residential streets. Their progress and an updated 3-day list of neighbourhoods is available daily at saskatoon.ca/snow by 8 a.m.
Important messages for residents:
- Vehicles on the street - Grader operators will go around parked vehicles, but we encourage people to move them if there is off-street parking available.
- Snow piles - As graders shave off the top layers of ruts the snow will be pushed into piles along the curb.
- Skipped streets - Some streets that were too narrow for graders to access in completed neighbourhoods will be scheduled soon and posted with No Parking signs in advance.
- Clean-up work - Completed streets will be inspected within 24 hours and repairs will occur within a few days where excessive snow ridges obstruct driveway access.
- Back lane ruts, industrial area ruts and priority street snow removal – Resources will be allocated to these areas as the residential street rut shaving completes. More details will be coming soon.
Thank you for your patience and for leaving space for our operators and equipment to safely do their work.
