City to lower flags in recognition of Police & Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day
Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day is Sunday, September 25, 2022. In recognition, flags at all City of Saskatoon facilities will fly at half-mast for the day.
Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day is recognized every year in Canada on the last Sunday in September. The day pays tribute to the hard work, dedication and sacrifice police and peace officers have made toward the safety of Canadians.
Flags are flown at half-mast to honour police and peace officers killed in the line of duty. Memorial services will also take place in communities across the country.
The City of Saskatoon’s flags are currently at half-mast until each life lost at James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon has been acknowledged. The flags will remain at half-mast for one additional day in honour of Police and Peace Officers’ National Memorial Day.
