At approximately 1:55 this afternoon, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a possible house on fire at 124 Avenue S South. 

Three Fire Engines, one Heavy Rescue Unit, one Aerial Ladder Truck, one Fire Investigation Unit, and one Battalion Chief were dispatched to the scene. 

The first arriving fire crew confirmed that smoke was visibly exiting through the front of the house. Immediately, an offensive attack was initiated and an attack group entered the house through the front door. Fire crews battled intense heat and heavy smoke during firefighting efforts. Firefighters shut down the gas line to the house, and utility technicians were requested to disconnect remaining utilities. Additional fire crews forced entry through the back door to encourage ventilation of the smoke-filled house. The fire was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes of the first fire crew arriving on scene. Electric fans were used to ventilate remaining smoke from the house. 

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. A Fire Investigator is on scene working to determine a cause and damage estimate.

At approximately 12:07 this afternoon, the Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls reporting a recreational vehicle on fire in the driveway of a house located at 3360 33rd Street West. 

Three Fire Engines, one Heavy Rescue Unit, one Aerial Ladder Truck, one Fire Investigation Unit, and one Battalion Chief were immediately dispatched for response. 

Fire crews noted visible smoke and flame showing upon their arrival and confirmed one recreational vehicle to be fully involved in fire with flame extending towards the house. Fire crews verified that all occupants had self-evacuated from the house before their arrival. Firefighters shut down the gas line to the house, while utility technicians were en-route to disconnect remaining utilities. 

Fire crews quickly extinguished the recreational vehicle; however, thermal heat imaging suggested that the fire had extended from the recreational vehicle into the attic of the house. An attack group made entry into the main level of the house to determine if the fire had extended beyond the attic level. An aggressive attack was made from both the interior and exterior of the house to control and contain the fire in the attic. Fire crews used ventilation fans to clear the house of smoke.

There were no injuries reported as a result of this incident. A Fire Investigator is currently on scene working to determine a cause and damage estimate.

At approximately 7:40 this morning, the Saskatoon Fire Department was dispatched to a multi-vehicle collision on Circle Drive near Valley Road. 

Upon receiving the call, two Fire Engines, one Heavy Rescue Unit, and one Battalion Chief were dispatched to the scene. One Assistant Chief traveling in the area received the dispatch transmission and also responded to aid in establishing scene safety.

The Assistant Chief was first on scene, confirming there to be 12 vehicles and one semi tractor-trailer involved. The Assistant Chief activated the vehicle's emergency lights to alert additional drivers of the accident scene and create a safer work area for emergency crews. 

While en-route, one of the responding fire engines came across an additional accident scene. The crew checked on the individuals involved, identified there to be no injuries, and then proceeded to the multi-vehicle collision on Circle Drive and Valley Road. 

Upon arrival of the responding fire crews, it was determined that only one of the individuals involved was in need of medical attention, multiple vehicles were leaking fluids, and a significant amount of debris was visible throughout the accident scene. 

Fire crews performed fluid and debris clean-up and tow trucks have arrived to begin removing damaged vehicles from the scene. The Saskatoon Fire Department has completed its duties in relation to this incident and the scene has been left with the Saskatoon Police Service. 

  At approximately 8:24 Sunday evening the Saskatoon Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at 115 Ave O S.

  Three fire engines, one aerial ladder truck, one heavy rescue truck and a Battalion Chief were dispatched. On arrival crews found a second floor apartment fully involved with fire and the building full of smoke. Arriving crews received several reports of people trapped in the building. One additional fire engine was dispatched.

   Crews performed a quick transitional attack on the fire from outside and then entered the building to perform an aggressive interior attack on the fire. While crews were extinguishing the fire additional crews searched the building and brought one person out of a basement suite, Crews also rescued two people off a balcony. Four cats were also found and brought out of the building. The fire was quickly extinguished and all people that were in the building were accounted for. Twenty one people were displaced from their homes. One person from received minor burns. Because of the severe cold weather Two additional fire engines were dispatched to the scene to relieve crews on scene and complete salvage and overhaul operations.

   A Fire Investigator was called to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. Damage is estimated to be approximately $250,000.00.

At approximately 5:19 this morning, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a house on fire at 5371 Strathcona Avenue in Corman Park. 

Two fire engines, one heavy rescue unit, one brush truck, one water tanker, and one Battalion Chief responded to the scene. Fire Dispatchers worked to obtain additional information for responding crews, identifying that two cats and one dog remained trapped inside. All occupants of the home had exited before the arrival of the first fire crew.

Firefighters observed a house with heavy smoke and flame showing upon their arrival. An assessment of the scene was performed and a defensive attack was initiated to control and contain the fire from extending to other areas of the property. In considering scene safety, fire crews noted a half-full tank of diesel located to the side of the burning house and established a collapse zone around the perimeter. Water tankers shuttled water to the fire scene to maintain a consistent water source. The request to shut down utilities to the house was made and utility technicians were dispatched to the scene. Given the involvement of the fire and the extraordinarily cold temperatures, fire crews have been rotated out and additional fire engines have been dispatched to monitor for and extinguish hot spots.

Fire Dispatchers made contact with animal care facilities in Saskatoon to find temporary shelter for one dog that was displaced as a result of the fire. It is assumed that the two cats and one dog that remained trapped inside the burning home were not able to exit and are now deceased. 

There will be no damage estimate provided or investigation conducted for this incident as it falls outside of the jurisdiction of the Saskatoon Fire Department. 

At approximately 12:17 this afternoon, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call alerting to a possible hazardous concern in a suite on the second floor of a multi-unit apartment complex on Pendygrasse Road.

One Fire Engine was dispatched to investigate the concern. Upon arrival, it was determined that to ensure public safety and that of responders, additional crews would be required; dispatched were one Haz-Mat Unit, one Decontamination Unit, one Mobile Command Unit, one Aerial Ladder Truck, and one Battalion Chief.

Before making entry to the suite, a plan for ventilation of the complex was established. Haz-Mat crews made entry to the suite in question and found there to be no hazards to the public or the environment. 

There will be no additional information provided in relation to this incident.

At approximately 01:30 the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting smoke in a house at 210 Ave E North. Three engine companies, one ladder truck, a heavy rescue and a Battalion Chief responded to the call.  On arrival three people were waiting outside for the fire department. Fire crews entered the house and found a fire in the basement which they quickly extinguished.

No injuries were reported at this fire.

 The fire is under investigation and there is no damage estimate at this time.

The Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call at 10:20 a.m. reporting a mobile home fire at Leisureland trailer park.  Dispatched to the scene were five fire apparatus, including a water tanker.  The first arriving officer observed heavy smoke and considerable amount of flame from within the home.  Once assured there were no occupants, fire crews committed to protecting neighbouring buildings and delivering water into the home.

An additional water tanker was dispatched to assist with water delivery to the scene.  Incident command also requested a backhoe to assist with pulling apart the mobile home to gain access to hidden and inaccessible parts of the structure. 

Fire crews remain on scene and continue to extinguish hot spots.

There is no damage estimate or fire cause at this time.

Pet Rescued from House Fire at 1136 Elliot Street.

At 3:45 this afternoon The Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a house was on fire with smoke coming from the front door at 1136 Elliot Street. 

Three Engines, an Aerial Ladder, a Heavy Rescue Truck, and a Battalion Chief were dispatched to the scene.

First crews arrived in four minutes and found a single storey residential home with smoke coming from the front and left side of the structure.  Crews used attack hose lines and entered the back of the home to conduct a search.  Once inside, crews found a fire in the basement.  A thorough rescue search was conducted while continuing to extinguish areas involved in fire. 

One cat was rescued from the home and another cat was found deceased. The initial fire was brought under control in eighteen minutes.  Occupants were not in the home at the time of the fire.

Crews worked to extinguish any remaining hot spots and used ventilation fans to clear the remaining smoke.  Utility technicians were called to the scene to disconnect the gas and power to the home.

A Fire Investigation Unit was called to the scene and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. 

Damages are estimated at $ 50,000.
