Home Energy Map
Stop paying to heat the outdoors. The Home Energy Map is a digital tool that helps you understand the energy performance of your home and connects you with resources to get started on efficiency renovations that can increase comfort and decrease utility bills.
It provides a "virtual audit" estimate of your home's annual energy consumption under standard conditions, without the time and expense of an in-person energy audit.
You can also “claim your home” by creating an account (authenticated with your tax roll number) to log your energy upgrades for a more accurate overall score.

SmartUTIL
Know exactly what is going on with your utility bill. There’s a lot to consider when it comes to water and electricity consumption at your property. Running lots of fans or the A/C during hot weather? Sprinklers going full force to keep your turf and garden green? Using space heaters all day during cold snaps?
SmartUTIL allows residential utility customers to:
- View water and electricity usage and trends for your property(s) by the month, day, or hour (*electricity data is only available for Saskatoon Light & Power customers).
- Keep on budget – you can set spending alerts for water and/or electricity usage at your property and be notified if you’re about to exceed the dollar amount you specified.
- Take steps to conserve and reduce the impact on the environment by reviewing water and electricity data for your property.
Financing, Rebates and Incentives
The Home Energy Loan Program (HELP) was developed to help Saskatoon homeowners improve energy efficiency, install renewable energy, or reduce water use by offering low interest loans to cover the costs of these upgrades. Qualified applicants repay the loan through their property taxes to cover the costs of energy and water efficiency retrofits such as heat pumps, high efficiency furnaces and low flow toilets and renewable energy installations.
Make the most of up to $40,000 in interest-free loans through the Canada Greener Homes Initiative. Save energy and make your home more comfortable.
SaskEnergy, in collaboration with SaskPower, is offering the Home Efficiency Retrofit Rebate (HERR) to eligible Saskatchewan homeowners. Improve the building envelope of their homes with high performance windows, doors, insulation and air sealing retrofits.
Metis Nation-Saskatchewan in partnership with Natural Resources Canada and Environment Climate Change Canada is offering a one-time indirect grant for homeowners to perform energy efficiency retrofits to their primary residence through the Home Efficiency Initiative Program.
The SaskEnergy Residential Equipment Replacement Rebate Program is available to any eligible registered homeowner or property owner. Invest in energy efficient equipment to reduce natural gas and electrical usage associated with operating costs.
The SaskPower Energy Assistance Program is available to all income-qualified Saskatchewan residents. High utility bills and the cost of energy efficient upgrades can be stressful for lower-income households. The City of Saskatoon’s partnership with SaskPower ensures that customers in both SaskPower’s and Saskatoon Light & Power’s service areas can access the program!
The SaskEnergy Tune-Up Assistance Program (TAP) helps income qualified homeowners (annual combined household income of less than $68,000) maintain their natural gas furnace free of charge. Receive a free Network Home Heating Tune-Up, a carbon monoxide alarm, two furnace filters and up to $200 in repairs (if required).
