The City of Saskatoon will be performing a series of upgrades to Robert Hunter West Park in 2024 to address deficiencies and bring the park up to current development standards. Therefore, we are informing the surrounding community and user groups on what they can expect during the Robert Hunter West Park Upgrade project.

How did we involve the community?  

The City hosted a Come & Go Information Session for residents to view the proposed plans, ask questions and provide feedback. This information session was held at Ecole River Heights School - Small Gym on December 12, 2023 from 6:30 p.m. to 8p.m.

A survey was also released to the residents of River Heights and was open until December 20, 2023. Results of the survey can be accessed in Robert Hunter West Engagement Summary Report.

What is the Robert Hunter West Park Upgrade Project?

Starting in Fall 2023, the City will begin work on the Robert Hunter West Park Upgrade project to address deficiencies and bring the park up to current standards.

Why are we doing this work? 

Robert Hunter West Park, located in the River Heights neighbourhood, will be receiving upgrades in 2024 as part of the City’s Park Upgrade Program, an ongoing capital project that provides funding for improvements to existing neighbourhood parks to address deficiencies and bring them up to current park development standards. The upgrade work in Robert Hunter West Park is also being funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Natural Infrastructure Fund.

What Upgrades Are Being Planned?

Upgrades planned for Robert Hunter West Park include:

• New and upgraded pathways
• Pathway lighting
• New site furniture
• Tree maintenance
• Enhanced plantings, including new trees

The park space will be closed throughout construction and establishment of newly planted areas. More detailed closure information will be confirmed after the tender is awarded and the contractor develops a construction schedule.
