Project Status

Over the past year, the City has been designing a concept plan for Linklater Park, the core park in Aspen Ridge. To create an inclusive park that meets the needs of Aspen Ridge residents and visitors, we’ve engaged with a wide range of stakeholders including project partners, internal departments, external groups and the community. Construction of the park is scheduled to begin in Spring/Summer 2025.

What is the Project About?

Spanning over 6.8 hectacres, the core neighbourhood park in Aspen Ridge has been named after Maria Linklater and her grandson, Michael Linklater, both prominent members of the Saskatoon community with Cree heritage from the Thunderchild First Nation. Over the past year, the City has been designing a concept plan for Linklater Park. Highlights of the design include:

• A vibrant park plaza for socializing and enjoying activities
• Shared pathways with pump passing lanes and activity bulb-outs
• A ‘play wharf’ featuring unique play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities 
• Multi-purpose sports fields and a ball diamond
• 3x3 basketball court
• Spray pad
• Toboggan hill
• Bocce court
• Teaching garden and amphitheatre
• Group seating and picnic areas
• Spaces for a future community rink and garden

Construction of the park is scheduled to begin in Spring/Summer 2025.
