Structure fire - 437 Avenue C South
At approximately 4:36 this afternoon, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a possible house on fire at 437 Avenue C South.
Three Fire Engines, one Aerial Ladder Truck, one Heavy Rescue Unit, one Fire Investigation Unit, and one Battalion Chief were dispatched for response. Fire crews arrived on scene in less than three minutes.
Upon arrival, smoke was observed visibly filling the interior of the house and exiting through the roof. Fire crews immediately initiated an offensive attack and entered the house within minutes of arrival. Utilities to the house were not in service and therefore did not identify as a hazard to fire crews working on scene. A fire on the interior of the house was quickly found and extinguished, and ventilation was conducted to clear the house of remaining smoke and carbon monoxide. Searches were completed on each level, with no occupants or pets being found inside.
It was determined that the fire may have extended into the wall and floor of the house; fire crews began opening up the areas suspected of extension, allowing them to find, control, and contain any extension of the fire that had occurred.
A Fire Investigator is working on scene, but has not yet identified a cause or provided a damage estimate.
There were no injuries to civilian or fire personnel reported as a result of this incident.
