Single vehicle collision - rescue required - Highway 11 and Melness Road
At approximately 6:27 this morning, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call alerting to a single vehicle collision at a rural location near Highway 11 and Melness Road.
Call information prompted the immediate dispatch of two Fire Engines, one Heavy Rescue Unit, and one Battalion Chief.
Upon arrival, fire crews observed a GMC Sierra pickup truck that had left the road and collided with a nearby tree. It was quickly confirmed that extrication would be required in order to rescue the lone male occupant from the vehicle. Immediately, fire crews laid a hose line to the work area in the event a fire were to ignite, and began work to stabilize and de-energize the truck. The lone male occupant was extricated from the vehicle and transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.
The Saskatoon Fire Department has now concluded its duties in relation to this incident.
