Dump Truck vs. House - Natural Gas Leak - 300 block of Bolstad Way
At approximately 2:31 p.m. on May 7, 2020, the Saskatoon Fire Department was alerted to an incident involving a dump truck that had backed into a residential house, severing the natural gas supply line. One fire engine and one aerial ladder truck were dispatched for response.
Upon arrival, fire crews confirmed a natural gas leak and ensured no injuries had been sustained as a result of the incident. The structural integrity of the house was unaffected; however, the gas meter had been displaced by the impact. Firefighters were able to shut off the supply of gas and stop the leak within minutes of arriving on scene. Utility technicians were contacted by fire dispatchers to repair the affected meter and supply line.
Fire crews have since returned to their stations to continue serving Saskatoon.
