Accessibility Survey
Thank you for helping create a barrier-free Saskatoon. This is the shortest version of our Accessibility surveys, designed to be screen reader friendly. By answering two key questions, you’ll help identify barriers that will guide the City’s efforts to build a more equitable City of Saskatoon.
For each question, there is an audio clip and a video clip featuring an American Sign Language (ASL) translation with no sound. Note for audio clips: If you click outside of the play button area of the player, you may be redirected to the SoundCloud webpage that hosts our audio clips. For sighted people, the play button is a green button. You are welcome to engage with the audio and video supports if you'd like, or you can move directly to the questions without using these resources.
The purpose of the short-version survey is to support people who may prefer a simple and straightforward survey option. This survey differs from the other surveys which guide participants through several different areas of barriers that are outline in the Accessible Saskatchewan Act:
Built environment.
Information and communications. Transportation.
Service animals.
Service delivery / Civic goods and services. Employment with the City of Saskatoon.
Attitudes, or the negative biases, of City of Saskatoon employees.
In completing our survey, we hope that you can tell us about the barriers you have experienced in Saskatoon over the last 12 months. We also provide an opportunity for you to recommend any solutions that might improve our ability to build a barrier-free city. For this survey, we consider a barrier as anything that makes it harder to take part in daily life. Barriers come in many forms, including:
Physical, e.g., no ramps. Attitudinal, i.e., negative bias.
Technological, e.g., inaccessible websites. Informational, e.g., hard-to-read signs.
Communication-related - i.e., difficult to understand.
Barriers impact many people in Saskatoon, including people with disabilities, people who are Deaf or hard of hearing, people with medical challenges, and older adults. Thank you for taking the time to help inform and guide the City of Saskatoon.
