The International Council of Aging designated September 30 to October 6 as Active Aging Week – a time to celebrate aging and the benefits of active living at any age.
Active Aging Week challenges society’s expectations of aging by showing that regardless of age or health conditions, adults over 50 can live life to the fullest.
“The City of Saskatoon’s Recreation & Community Development Department is committed to promoting Active Aging through a variety of drop-in and registered programs available at our Leisure Centres,” says Andrew Roberts, Director of Recreation & Community Development. “Our Fit Over 50 programs are specifically designed to guide and encourage physical activity for individuals aged 50 +”.
To celebrate Active Aging week, the City invites residents to stop by a Leisure Centre during Active Aging Week. An ambassador will be on location to talk about fall programs. It’s also a chance to win prizes, visit with friends and relax after exercising.

30 km/h speed limit take effect on Dudley Street bikeway
September 27, 2024 - 10:00am
A 30 kilometre per hour (km/h) speed limit on the Dudley Street neighbourhood bikeway between Avenue P and Spadina Crescent will be in effect starting Monday September 30. The change is part of the City of Saskatoon’s ongoing commitment to improving road safety for all users. This marks the third neighbourhood bikeway to have a reduced speed limit implemented this year. It follows 23rd Street West and 14th Street East.
The 30 km/h speed limit on Dudley Street helps create a safer, more comfortable environment for cyclists of all levels, supporting the City’s efforts to promote active transportation. New speed limit signage has been installed to inform drivers of the speed limit changes for this bikeway.
The reduced speed limits on this key bikeway align with the policy approved by City Council in December 2023. The Dudley Street bikeway links the Meewasin Trail with surrounding residential neighborhoods, Gordie Howe sports complex and employment areas.
