Next phase of College Drive project starts Sunday; Lane restrictions between Wiggins Avenue and Cumberland Avenue
The water main maintenance and replacement project on College Drive is progressing to the next phase of construction. On Sunday, July 21, the current construction zone will be cleared, and a new one will be set up further east between Wiggins Avenue and Cumberland Avenue.
Two-way traffic will be maintained, with two lanes for westbound traffic and one lane for eastbound traffic through the construction zone. Eastbound traffic will move into the westbound median lane. Westbound traffic will be unable to turn left onto Wiggins Avenue during this phase.
Pedestrians may be redirected to cross College Drive at alternate locations. In the event of Saskatoon Transit impacts due to construction, Transit service alerts and real-time bus information are available on third-party apps like Transit and Google Maps Transit.
The College Drive water main maintenance and replacement project has been underway since May and is expected to wrap up in October. Most of the work has been water main maintenance, but at this location, replacements are required.
Work zones are clearly marked with orange signs and pylons. Drivers are asked to slow down, pay attention, and watch for workers. Where merging is necessary, use all available lanes until the merge point. Then, take turns moving through the work zone.
