What We Asked

The City of Saskatoon (City) is developing a long-term, city-wide Zero-emission Vehicle Roadmap (Roadmap) that will recommend paths forward for both the City and the community to adopt zero-emission vehicles in Saskatoon. Zero-emission vehicles use electricity or hydrogen, instead of gasoline or diesel, to reduce or eliminate carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions and air pollution.

In the development of the Roadmap we are looking for your feedback on:

• How can the City support zero-emission vehicle adoption in Saskatoon?
• What should we consider when developing the Roadmap?
• What should we prioritize so we can make the biggest difference?
• Are there organizations we can partner with to support the Roadmap?

How You Can Get Involved

What is the Project About?

The City is developing a the Zero-emission Vehicle Roadmap (Roadmap) to outline the electrification of the City’s municipal and transit fleets, as well as support the community in transitioning to zero-emission vehicles. During this process the City is exploring the costs, benefits, and challenges of adopting zero-emission vehicles in Saskatoon through best practise research and engagement with the community.

The project aligns with targets and actions set out within the Low Emission Community (LEC) Plan, including:

• Electrify the municipal and transit fleets (target: 100% of the municipal and transit fleets are electric by 2030)
• Electrify personal vehicles through incentive programs, education, and automotive dealer partnerships (target: 30% of all new vehicle sales are electric by 2030, 90% by 2050)
• Electrify commercial vehicles through incentive programs, education, and automotive dealer partnerships (target: 50% of all new heavy trucks are zero emissions by 2030, 100% by 2040)
