UPDATE: Kitchen Fire - 900 block of Preston Avenue South
A fire investigator has concluded the investigation into a fire that occurred on September 20, 2020 in the 900 block of Preston Avenue South. The cause is confirmed to be accidental as a result of unattended cooking. Damage has been estimated at around $5,000.

At about 1:49 p.m. on September 20, 2020, the Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a kitchen fire inside one of the units in a multi-unit apartment building located on the 900 block of Preston Avenue South. Three fire engines, one rescue unit, one aerial ladder truck, one fire investigation unit, and one battalion chief responded.
Firefighters arrived on scene in less than four minutes and found an extinguished fire in the kitchen of one of the units. The occupant of the unit had self-evacuated prior to the arrival of fire crews; however, one cat was retrieved and removed by firefighters upon their arrival. Ventilation was established to clear the unit of dark smoke and toxins prior to fire crews concluding on scene.
