Motor Vehicle Collision - Semi Tractor-Trailer vs. Cube Van
At approximately 11:27 this morning, the Saskatoon Fire Department was alerted to a motor vehicle collision between a semi tractor-trailer and a cube van on Highway 12. It was reported that one of the vehicles involved was transporting chemicals at the time of the collision.
Two fire engines, one heavy rescue unit, one haz-mat unit, and one battalion chief were dispatched for response. Upon arrival, fire crews observed a semi tractor-trailer that had collided with the rear of a cube van, resulting in a significantly large debris field. Haz-mat technicians worked on scene to confirm that the chemical being transported was five 45-gallon barrels of acetone; it was also confirmed that none of the chemical barrels were leaking.
There were no serious injuries, environmental impacts, or public safety risks as a result of this collision.
The Warman Fire Department also responded to assist on scene.
