Garage fire on Cartier Crescent
The Saskatoon Fire Department received a 911 call on Saturday evening reporting a fire on the 100 block of Cartier Crescent. Dispatched to the scene were 3 engines, a ladder, rescue, battalion chief and fire investigator.
First arriving firefighters were presented with a fully involved garage fire and crews were directed to advance hose lines to knock down flames from the exterior before proceeding into the structure.
Once the fire was brought under control, a subsequent search discovered a deceased dog. There were no other injuries to civilians of firefighters.
An additional engine was dispatched to the scene to relieve firefighters working in extreme cold temperatures to aid with final overhaul activities to ensure extinguishement and pack up equipment.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and not considered suspicious. Damage is estimated to be $25,000.00.
