Forget parking and traffic - leave the car at home! Make first and last mile connections to Saskatoon Transit routes with your bike, an Uber, or taxi as you head downtown for the Canada Day celebrations.

Planning your trip is easier than ever when you use Transit, Saskatoon Transit's recommended trip planning app. The Transit app works out suggested trips that easily combine public transit with options like Uber or Riide, and it also lets you pay your Saskatoon Transit fare with just a few taps. 

Transit will be running regular holiday service until 9:00 p.m. (normal fares apply).

After the fireworks, free buses will leave from locations on either side of the river (3^rd Avenue northbound/north of 19^th Street and Broadway Avenue southbound/south of 12^th Street). Buses will stop when requested along the routes noted in the Canada Day 2022 special event bus map!

All Access Transit pickups and drop-offs for the event will be at the temporary stop on 2^nd Ave just north of the Alt Hotel. Access Transit will extend its service hours until midnight so customers can take in the fireworks show. Trips must be booked in advance as per normal booking procedures and subscriptions do not apply on statutory holidays.

CITY HALL

All Administrative Offices are closed on Friday, July 1. City Hall will reopen Monday, July 4, at 8:00 a.m.

ROADWAY DETOURS & CLOSURES

• Saskatoon Boat Launch closed from June 30 8:00 a.m. to July 2 at 6:00 a.m.

REMAI MODERN

Remai Modern is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

SASKATOON PUBLIC LIBRARY

All locations will be closed on Friday, July 1.

WASTE COLLECTIONS

• Garbage (Black Cart) – Collections as scheduled (No impact on long weekend holiday).
• Recycling (Blue Cart) – Collections as scheduled (No impact on long weekend holiday).
• Organics (Subscription Green Cart) – Collections as scheduled (No impact on long weekend holiday).

LANDFILL

• The Landfill is open over the Canada Day long weekend from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Cash transactions are accepted, although Credit and Debit are recommended.

• The compost depots are open for the season and over the Canada Day long weekend from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

SASKATOON TRANSIT

• Fixed route transit will operate holiday hours on Friday, July 1. After the fireworks, buses will leave from locations on either side of the river. View the Canada Day 2022 special event bus map!
• On-Demand Transit will not be available on Friday, July 1.
• Access Transit will operate holiday hours (8:15 a.m. – 11:15 p.m.) on Friday, July 1. All the pickups and drop-offs for the Canada Day event will be at the temporary stop on 2^nd Ave just north of the Alt Hotel.
• Transit Customer Service Centre will be closed on Friday, July 1 but phone lines (306.975.3100) will be open from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

PAY PARKING

• Parking payment will not be required in City-managed pay parking areas on Canada Day, July 1.
• Motorists are reminded that all other parking requirements remain in effect, including parking time limits.

MUNICIPAL IMPOUND LOT 

• Vehicles will not be released to the public on Canada Day, July 1
• Open for regular business on Monday, July 4.

SASKATOON FORESTRY FARM PARK & ZOO

With elementary and high school classes wrapping up this week for the school year, the City is reminding people that reduced speeds in school zones will be in effect 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., 7 days a week, when school resumes in the Fall.

The changes to effective dates and times for the 30 km/h speed limit in school zones, the introduction of new playground reduced speed zones, and removal of school zones around high schools will take effect September 1, 2022.

Throughout the summer, City crews will be installing new playground signs and revising signs near schools.

As signs are installed, drivers are encouraged to follow the new direction; however, enforcement will only begin after the September 1, 2022 effective date.

Currently, school zones are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday from September 1 to June 30.
