Reminder: Sidewalk and private property snow clearing should ensure safe sidewalks and unobstructed winter roads
The City of Saskatoon is reminding residents about responsible snow clearing practices to help create safe and accessible sidewalks, and unobstructed road use.
As per Bylaw No. 8463, The Sidewalk Clearing Bylaw, residents in Saskatoon are obligated to clear snow, ice or other debris from sidewalks. Residents are required to clear sidewalks within 48 hours after a snowfall, and businesses along certain streets need to have sidewalks cleared within 24 hours, while both should have minimal snowpack and at least 1.2 metres cleared.
The City is also reminding residents and business owners to keep snow cleared from sidewalks, driveways and private property off roadways. Pushing additional snow onto roadways can create hazards and obstruct road use. The City requests that the cleared snow be placed on private property.
The City extends its appreciation to all residents for their cooperation in maintaining a safe and well-functioning sidewalk and road network, while not creating additional obstructions to traffic, and allowing crews to effectively complete their winter maintenance activities.
