Campaign Expense Information

Bylaw 8491, The Campaign Disclosure and Spending Limits Bylaw, 2006 sets the limits on campaign expenses for mayor and councillor offices. 

2024 Campaign Expenses:

• Mayoral candidates must not exceed $277,809.40
  • If campaign expenses are less than $5,000.00, the mayoral candidate shall be reimbursed the lesser of $850.80 and the actual cost of the audit, plus applicable taxes.
  • If campaign expenses are $5,000.00 or more, the mayoral candidate shall be reimbursed the lesser of $2,268.80 and the actual cost of the audit, plus applicable taxes.
• Councillor candidates must not exceed $27,780.94
• Candidate for public school board trustee shall not exceed $10,000.00
• Candidate for separate school board trustee shall not exceed $10,000.00
