Kirk Jones
Public School Board Trustee Candidate Ward 6
I recently retired from teaching after 33 years in Saskatoon classrooms. Now, I want to devote my time, energy and experience to serve Saskatoon students and their families in a new way — as Public School Board trustee. I’ve visited classrooms in Japan and the U.S. to see different education models. I hold a master’s degree in education and spent more than 40 years coaching and volunteering in my community. I played Huskie basketball and coached both the Huskies and Saskatchewan Rattlers.
We all know Saskatoon students deserve better. We need to deal with classroom crowding and lack of support. We need to explore partnerships with community partners like the City, U of S, and Sask Polytechnic to make the best use of resources. My goal is to rebuild student support to pre-pandemic levels — students going to school today are just as important as those who went to school in 2019. I know it won't be easy to restore that support. I have time energy and experience to help make it happen.
