Building Permit Requirements: Saskatoon Water
Ensuring the water and sewer systems adjacent to your property have adequate capacity is a critical requirement in the Building Permit process. For properties with three or more dwelling units, Saskatoon Water highly encourages a servicing capacity pre-review prior to submitting your Building Permit application.
This pre-review allows Saskatoon Water to assess your site’s servicing needs and check existing system capacities to ensure compliance with municipal standards. Addressing any potential servicing or fire flow issues early in the process can prevent delays and help keep your project on schedule.
After your pre-review request, a representative from Saskatoon Water will reply with water and sewer capacity information specific to your project. This information will include adequacy of the sanitary sewer system to accept additional flows, the stormwater runoff coefficient (Cd) to be used for onsite stormwater management calculations, and fire flow estimations with any requirements related to hydrant flow testing and fire flow sufficiency reporting.
