Background
The Neighbourhood Services Review project is an important initiative aimed at evaluating and enhancing the service delivery model of the City of Saskatoon’s Recreation & Community Development Neighbourhood Services Section. Since the 1980s, the Neighbourhood Services Section has been instrumental in working with community associations to provide affordable and accessible sport, culture, and recreation programs. However, with changing demographics and limited resources, we aim to ensure our services remain sustainable and meet the community's evolving needs.
This project focuses on three key areas:
- Evaluation of Service Delivery Model: Assessing current practices, optimizing service delivery, and aligning with City Council's strategic vision.
- Environmental Scan: Reviewing neighbourhood services models in comparable cities for insights into functions, support mechanisms, funding models, and staffing structures.
- Summary of Recommendations: Developing a comprehensive report with recommendations to align our model with future community needs and strategic objectives.
Prairie Wild Consulting and Braid Consulting have been contracted to help facilitate the review process.
