Diet: Their diet consists of small mammals, birds and fish.
Height: 52.5 to 64 cm (20.7 to 25.2 in).
Weight: 1.6 to 3 kg and wingspan is 1.2 to 1.5 m.
Lifespan: Snowy Owls live 10 to 12 years in the wild, and up to 30 years in a zoo setting.
Fun Facts
- Male snowy owls are almost completely white, while females are white with dark bars on her otherwise white plumage.
- Their long black claws, ideal for snatching up prey such as lemmings, can grow up to 3.5 cm long.
- They are patient hunters, relying on their keen eyesight and silent flight to surprise prey.
About Us
The Zoo is home to two snowy owls, a male and female and are located next to the Kinmen Bear Habitat.
