House fire - 143 Nordstrum Road
Saskatoon Fire Department received multiple 911 calls at approx. 01:40, reporting a house on fire at the rear of 143 Nordstrum Road. Three Engines, one Ladder Company, one Rescue Unit, and the Battalion Chief responded to the scene.
Crews arrived on scene in less than four minutes. Smoke and flame were visible from the rear of the single family house including involvement of the second storey. Incident command was notified that all occupants of the home had been evacuated.
Fire crews were faced with windy conditions which accelerated the spread of the fire into the structure and posed a risk to neighbouring houses. An exterior attack was initiated to contain and control the main body of fire and protect adjacent structures.
Windy conditions and amount of fire involvement dictated a defensive strategy so rotation of crews was required throughout the night until conditions were safe enough to make entry. Crews remain on scene extinguishing hot spots and fire that extended into various areas of the main structure.
A Fire Investigator is on scene. Damage is extensive however an estimate is not available at this time. No injuries have been reported as a result of this fire.
