Garage Fire - 113 Avenue M South
Garage Fire 113 Avenue M South.
At approximately 05:30 this morning, as one of the fire crews were returning from the Avenue J fire they noticed smoke in the area of 22nd Street and Avenue P and asked Dispatch to send a truck to investigate. As Dispatch was sending the truck, an off duty police officer confirmed a garage fire on Ave. M and the call was upgraded.
Three Engines, one Ladder Company, a Rescue Unit and the Battalion Chief were dispatched.
The first arriving crew found a single detached garage fully involved in flames. They also had to deal with a neighboring garage in close proximity. A single hose line was deployed and a quick offensive attack was able to manage the main fire and prevent the fire’s spread to the other garage. The fire was under control in approximately 20 minutes.
No occupants were found and no injuries were reported as a result of this fire.
A Fire Investigation Unit is currently on scene. This was the second garage destroyed by fire this evening.
There is no damage estimate at this time.
