Naturalized Parks
Naturalized parks are designed to mimic the naturally occurring landscapes of the prairies and feature a variety of habitats, such as grasslands, wetlands and aspen parkland. Naturalized parks are important for Saskatoon's green network and provide many benefits, including:
- Biodiversity by using native plants and grasses, drought resistant plants and wetlands
- Spaces for recreation, learning and connection close to nature
- Urban habitats for wildlife like pollinating insects and birds
- Protection from flooding
- Improved air quality
- Water conservation through reduced irrigation
- Resiliency to extreme weather
