Campaign Expense Information
Bylaw 8491, The Campaign Disclosure and Spending Limits Bylaw, 2006 sets the limits on campaign expenses for mayor and councillor offices. The expense limit for the 2024 civic election is yet to be determined.
2020 Campaign Expenses:
- Mayoral candidates must not exceed $229,497.92
- If campaign expenses are less than $5,000.00, the mayoral candidate shall be reimbursed the lesser of $850.80 and the actual cost of the audit, plus applicable taxes.
- If campaign expenses are $5,000.00 or more, the mayoral candidate shall be reimbursed the lesser of $2,268.80 and the actual cost of the audit, plus applicable taxes.
- Councillor candidates must not exceed $22,949.79
- Candidate for public school board trustee shall not exceed $10,000.00
- Candidate for separate school board trustee shall not exceed $10,000.00
