Overview
The City's Boards, Commissions and Committees are stronger through diverse membership, and in working together we make Saskatoon a better city. We rely on citizen volunteers to bring their diverse backgrounds and expertise and welcome, support and value individuals for their unique perspective, guidance and advice reflecting the community we serve.
There are a wide variety of open positions where you'll have opportunities to guide recommendations, and share your input, advice and expertise.

We're recruiting citizen volunteers for several vacant positions on our Boards, Commissions and Committees. Make a difference in your community as you help shape programs and services that matter to you.
We welcome, support and value individuals for their differences, perspectives, lived experiences, talents and contributions. We are committed to including Indigenous, Black, people of colour, members of the LGBTQ2+ community, people living with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Appointment Process
Who can apply?
As per City Council Policy No. C01-003 Appointments to Civic Boards, Commissions, Authorities, and Committees, applicants must reside within the boundaries of the City of Saskatoon, with the exception of applicants to the Controlled Corporations.
Employees of the City of Saskatoon are not eligible for public appointment.
How do I apply?
To apply, go to our BCC page and click on your board of interest to find its application form or click on the Vacancies Tab. Complete the online application form, attach a resumé and provide two letters of reference. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
Can I apply for more than one Board or Committee?
Yes. You must complete a separate application for each one.
How many actual vacancies are there?
Existing members are eligible for reappointment to a maximum of six years; however, appointments are not automatic. The number of actual vacancies may be minimal; however, we encourage you to submit an application. Vacancies arise throughout the year, and your application will be considered in those cases as well.
How are appointments made?
- Applications are submitted to an In Camera meeting of the Governance & Priorities Committee, which is a committee consisting of all members of City Council.
- The Governance & Priorities Committee will make public recommendations to City Council for appointments.
- Most appointments are effective as of January 1, with the exception of the Controlled Corporations and nominees to the Saskatoon Airport Authority.
How do I find out if I am appointed?
You will receive formal notification of your appointment from the City Clerk's Office indicating the term and any other pertinent information. Unsuccessful applicants are also notified following completion of the appointment process.
Will I get paid to sit on a Committee?
Most of the positions are voluntary with the exception of the Board of Revision, Development Appeals Board, Saskatoon Appeal Board, and the Saskatoon Airport Authority.
